International English Language Testing System [IELTS 2020] covers the language skill of people who want to work, study, or migrate. Important Note:
- The Registration fees of IELTS Exam 2020 is been increased to 14,000 from 1st April 2020
- IELTS Partners has launched an IELTS Indicator which means students who are affected by COVID-19 can give the test at their homes. The indicator will judge the student’s English Language Skills in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
IELTS Exam 2020 Dates
The IDP and British Council offers the same fixed date every year of the IELTS Exam. There are 4 IELTS Exam in a month for Academic IELTS where General Training is taken twice in a month. Generally, every week there is 1 IELTS Exam conducted mainly on Thursday or Saturday.
In short, there are 48 Academic tests taken in a year and 24 General Training taken in a year. It is advised to book a test 20 to 30 days prior to the test giving date almost every major city of India IELTS Exam is basically of two types and conducted in two different ways.

IELTS Exam 2020 Eligibility Criteria
There are eligibility criteria set by the British Council or IDP for IELTS Exam 2020. However, anyone above the age of 16 years can give the IELTS Exam 2020. It is a language skill test for a student or a person who wishes to study in an English Graduate Country to aim at Global Exposure. So the candidates who have a proper understanding and speaking of English Language can apply for this test.
IELTS Exam 2020 Syllabus
IELTS 2020 Exam is conducted to evaluate student’s skill level in English Language Only. According to the IELTS Syllabus, it consists of 4 sections namely Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The IELTS has generally 2 formats IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. You can select any one of them depending upon your requirement or course/university you are applying to.
1. Listening [ Same for Academic and General Training]
- It includes 40 items and it comprises of 4 sections
- The first section is a conversation between the individuals
- The second section is a monologue/speech
- The third section is a conversation among a maximum of 4 people set in an academic setting
- The fourth section is a monologue on the academic subject

2. Reading [ Different for Academic and General Training]
- It comprises of 4 sections and includes 40 questions
- You need to read the text passages and answer questions in multiple-choice, sentence completion, summary writing, matching information, short-answers
- Each passage consists of 13-14 questions
- The reading module has in total of 40 questions
- Reading passages and questions are different in Academic and General Training IELTS
Reading – For Academic
- It includes 3 long texts in syllabus
- The texts are authentic and are taken from book, magazines, journals, etc
- These are selected for the non-specialist audience
- Appropriate for candidates entering university courses or seeking professional registration abroad.
Reading – For General Training
- This requires students to read extracts from books, magazines, newspapers, journals, notices, advertisements, company, handbooks, and guidelines
- These materials ones are likely to encounter in an English Speaking Environment on a Daily basis
3. Writing [Different For Academic and General Training]
- This includes 2 tasks
- The topics are of general interest and suitable for candidates planning undergraduate or postgraduate studies abroad or seeking professionalism
- Task 1 – In this task, you will be presented with a graph, chart, table or diagram and asked to describe their thing in your own words
- Task 2 – You will be asked to write an essay to point of a problem, view or argument
4. Speaking [ Same For Academic and General Training]
- This is a one to one 3 part conversation
- The test will be recorded for judgment purposes and will consist of three parts that simulate a face-to-face oral interview with an examiner.
- The Speaking component judges the candidates’ use of spoken English; it takes between 11 to 14 minutes to complete.
- The entire speaking test is recorded by the examiner.
- In Part I, you will be asked questions about oneself and a range of familiar topics, such as home, family, work, studies, and interests.
- Part Ic-It is about four and five minutes.
- Part II – you will be given a card asking you to talk about a particular topic. You will be given one minute to prepare before speaking.
- Part III – the questions you will be asked will be connected to the Part II topics.
IELTS 2020 Exam Pattern
The IELTS EXam consists of Four Sections namely Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. The students are examined based on these four parameters. The IELTS Exam is available on 48 different dates in a year. The students can choose any of the 48 days to give their exams as per their convenience. The students can also reattempt the exam. Also, there is no limit for giving the IELTS Exam case they can’t give many times until they reach their score. IELTS Exam 2020 Results
After the completion of your IELTS Exam, your result will be available after 13 days. The result will be displayed in Test Report Form [TRF] Format and you will receive only one TRF. The TRF shows the scores for the four sections along with the overall band score.
All five scores are given on 0to 9 Band Scale. Provisional Result will be available online only for 28 Days. Candidates can also check their IELTS test scores through SMS by sending the below-mentioned code to 9289892898 after 12.00 noon on the days of the result.
